Yellow-pigmented nonfermentative bacilli recovered from clinical specimens were grouped according to their salient features by Elizabeth King. She first assigned numbers to these groups. Many of these are now well characterized and have been named. This report reviews these yellow-pigmented bacilli, presents our taxonomic studies on the IIk-2 group, and concludes that it should be assigned to the genus Flavobacterium.Citation
